Charles Santos, 34, of Kingston, was arrested Saturday on charges of unlawful possession of a large-capacity firearm and possession of ammunition without an FID card.

Kingston police said detectives had been investigating Santos amid allegations that he was using a 3D printer to manufacture firearms and was possibly in possession of a gun and various firearms parts and ammunition. According to police, Santos is prohibited from possessing firearms based on his history.

"Now, if you're an average citizen that has the authority and ability to have firearms, like most citizens do, it's not a big deal. It's prohibited persons that are creating firearms because they're not allowed to lawfully have them that is obviously our bigger concern," said Kingston police Det. Michael Skowyra.

Skowyra said Kingston police launched their investigation after someone called in a tip and then shared a video that appeared to show Santos holding a pistol that may have been made with a 3D printer.

Investigators were then granted a search warrant for Santos' home on Howland's Lane and executed that warrant late Saturday afternoon.

Kingston police said they found Santos to be in possession of a fully operational AR-style rifle, various firearms accessories, a 3D printer, 3D-printed firearms parts, body armor and additional evidence.

Skowyra said investigators did not find the pistol shown in the video during their search, and that police are trying to find out where that gun is or whether it was sold illegally.

Santos was also charged with possession of a Class E drug after police said they found steroids in his home.

Kingston police said Santos is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Plymouth District Court.

The Kingston Police Department's illegal gun possession investigation remains ongoing, according to authorities.
