Remember the viral video showing fresh idlis coming out of a vending machine in Bengaluru? Well, now an outlet named ‘The BVK Biryani’ in Chennai has implemented the concept of takeaway biryanis that one can get from vending machines. Biryani is among the most popular dishes in India and people often debate as to which biryani is the best – the one in Kolkata or Hyderabad or those in Andhra Pradesh or Kerala.

Food Vettai, a food blogging page on Instagram, posted a video of an outlet called Bai Veetu Kalyanam (BVK), that advertises itself as “India’s first manless takeaway”. The video shows how one can choose from the different types of biryani available. Apart from biryani, there are other options as well, like vegetarian dishes, starters or beverages. From selecting what to eat to paying by card or UPI, everything in the store is automated. After placing the order, a timer appeared on the screen showing that the food is being prepared. What more, the warm box of biryani was ready in under four minutes! The restaurant is located in Chennai’s Somanathapuram, Kolathur.
