According to the CEO of Loo Afrique, Rori Mpete, they selected Oratile Day Care to be one of their beneficiaries from Soweto as part of their Fight For Access program since they were on the verge on closing down due to sanitation issues.
“When the principal of the day care initially approached us, she wanted to purchase the toilets for her children since they were using a potty which was just outside.
“It was difficult for the learners to relieve themselves in case of rainfall and also to boost the message of practising proper hygiene,” Mpete said.
He added that through their partnership with various stakeholders they managed to make the dream of Oratile Day Care come true and take over the project, making it a donation.
“We then came to see the area and decided that instead of them buying our services, we should donate to them and build our new three-in-one toilets.”
Some of the special features of the toilets are that users can use, flush and wash their hands, saving about three litres of water as compared to the normal toilet system that uses six litres.

The principal of Oratile Day Care, Brigette Makgatho said they were excited to receive the donation since it came when they needed it the most.
“This is a blessing that came at the right time because we needed it. As a home based day care we do not have enough space for normal toilets, so this will really work for us.
“We have 46 children and received eight toilets we are really blessed since we can now maintain proper hygiene for the children,” Makgatho said.
