The 27ft-tall statue was created from 100,000 knives and blades confiscated by police forces in the UK.

The sculpture will be placed outside the Market House in the town's main shopping area.

The sculpture was designed by Alfie Bradley at the British Ironwork Centre (BIC) as a national monument against violence and aggression.

The designer, Mr Bradley, said: "The Knife Angel acts as a catalyst for turning the tide on violent and aggressive behaviour, but it is also acts as a beautiful memorial designed to celebrate those lives who have been lost through these violent and thoughtless actions."

Taunton Town Council confirmed the team behind the iconic artwork will host workshops and activities. The statue will also travel to Weston-super-Mare in May 2024.
