RAPID CITY, S.D. – Parents can apply for their kids for the 2023 Strider Cup World Championships in Osaka, Japan which will be a two-day race event with Strider Balance Bikes.
Currently scheduled for May 27 and 28, this is the first-ever world championship held outside the United States. Downhill Bike
Kids need to be between the ages of two and six and should have some Strider Bike racing experience.
“With the Strider Cup World Championships, we like to say this isn’t some race for neighborhood bragging rights. This is the one for all the marbles. All the kids from all over the world are coming out and then just getting a chance for some friendly competition and to just meet other riders from all over.” Hannah Peterson, public relations specialist of Strider Bikes, said.
For the application, a parent or guardian needs to fill out the information for both themselves and their kids. Then they will also provide a summary of the kid’s bike racing experience and accomplishments as well as a personal statement of what traveling to Japan and being a part of Strider Team USA would mean to the child and family.
Anyone in the U.S. can apply to be on the team through Strider Bikes website.
“We’ve gotten a few applications in so far and the families have definitely in their statements of why they want to be part of Team USA at the Strider Cup World Championship has been that they really want their kids to experience something of a lifetime of going to another country and racing and doing what they love on their Strider bikes.”
If picked for Team USA, families will receive $1,000 sponsorship to help cover some of the travel costs to Japan.
More information will be available later as the championships approach and Strider Bikes continues to work with Strider Japan.
